“Feminist” author gets $3.8 million from Amazon for ‘Feminine’ book
Amazon is giving a feminist author $3 million for a book that makes the case for the “feminist agenda.”
The deal, announced Tuesday, is with author Amy Schumer, who penned the book, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” and is working on a sequel, which will be released in 2017.
The deal with Schumer, a longtime Hillary Clinton supporter, will pay Schumer an undisclosed amount for her work, the New York Post reported.
The book is currently available in Amazon’s digital store and on Apple’s iBooks and Kindle stores.
Schumer, who has worked for decades on behalf of women’s rights, is an outspoken critic of the Republican Party and the president Donald Trump.
She was also the first person to use Twitter and Instagram to speak out about the shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teen who was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
She has become a household name among women and men for her book “Furious 7,” which examines the rise of the White House conspiracy theory that Barack Obama was born outside the United States and is therefore ineligible for the presidency.
Schumers work as an adviser to former president Donald J. Trump, and is a vocal supporter of the president.
The two were in the middle of a bitter feud with Trump after Schumer refused to endorse his presidential bid.
Schulz and Schumer were the two authors featured in a Trump campaign ad that featured an angry woman.
Schumer has also written about her desire to end male-dominated workplaces.
